Accessibility

This page is in two parts. The first is our accessibility statement for this website. The second is an access guide to the cottages themselves, to help you decide whether a stay will suit your needs.

Website accessibility statement

This statement applies to www.taswellretreats.uk, run by Taswell Retreats Limited. Statement date: 23 August 2026.

We want everyone to be able to use this website, whatever technology or assistance they rely on. We build it to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

What works

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, and the element you are on always has a visible focus indicator.
  • A skip link at the top of each page jumps straight to the main content.
  • Images have text alternatives; purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Pages use semantic headings and landmarks, so screen-reader users can move around by structure.
  • The cottage tour videos autoplay muted and loop; you can pause, unmute or expand them with the player controls. If your device is set to reduce motion, they do not autoplay. Nothing else moves automatically.
  • The contact and mailing-list forms work without JavaScript.
  • Content reflows to fit small screens and high zoom levels without sideways scrolling.
  • There are no time limits on anything you do on the site.

Known limitations

  • The availability and booking widget, and the checkout at taswellretreats.booksafely.com, are provided by AdvanceCM and are outside our direct control. If you have difficulty using them, contact us and we will help.
  • The cottage tour videos use the browser's native video player. The Google Map on the contact page relies on Google's controls.
  • Some of the legal text on this site, such as the privacy notice and this page, is long-form. We have broken it into headed sections and lists to make it easier to navigate.

Other formats and reporting a problem

If you need any information on this site in another format, or something does not work for you, please tell us through the contact form at taswellretreats.uk/contact. We aim to reply within five working days.

Enforcement

Taswell Retreats Limited is a small private business. Under the Equality Act 2010 we must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and we take that duty seriously. This is a voluntary statement: it is not a statement under the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018, which apply only to public-sector bodies.

Access guide to the cottages

At Taswell Retreats we want to make everyone's stay as enjoyable as possible, and we are committed to providing suitable access for all our guests, whatever their individual needs. We aim to describe our facilities and services accurately, so that you can book the right cottage for your requirements with confidence.
